Porous materials are a kind of material that contain numbers of pores, this kind of porous solid materials are mainly composed of the continuous fixed phase formed by materials’ own basic structure and fluid medium phase forming pores, and the liquid medium is gas mostly. Porous materials are commonly found around our life and environment playing an important role in structure, cushioning, vibration damping, heat insulation, sound deadening, filtration and etc.

Common amorphous porous structure materials:

Silica gel, Aluminium oxide sol, cross-linked clay, layered columnar, structure material and activated carbon molecular sieve and etc.

Common porous crystal materials:

Zeolite, Tamis moléculaire, zeolite-like materials, silicon oxide and other mesoporous materials, silicon oxide and other macroporous materials.

Pore size of porous materials means nominal (equivalent) pore size in porous structure, which has the average or equivalent meaning. The characterization method includes maximum pore size, average pore size, Distribution de la taille des pores, pore volume and porosity.

The basic parameter of porous materials is to characterize the pore features, p. ex. volume des pores, Taille des pores, specific surface area and etc. The performance of porous materials also largely depends on pore geometry, size and distribution.

BSD Instrument focus on developing analysis instruments with adsorption principle for adsorption characterization, not only provide the traditional porous materials characterization solutions (p. ex. SSA analysis, pore volume and pore size distribution, porosity and etc) but also provide closer to actual application solutions (p. ex. unconventional corrosive gas adsorption assessment, VOCs purification adsorption assessment, vapor adsorption assessment, Shale gas and coal bed methane, Hydrogen storage high pressure gas adsorption assessment, multi-component gas competitive adsorption assessment, chemisorption assessment and so on). These solutions include the assessment methods of porous materials’ adsorption characterization. The high-accuracy intelligent and automatic analysis instruments provide the characterization solutions and analysis assessments for researchers, producers and application in porous materials.
